Title Sequence - The Secret Life of Walter Mitty
This was my first experience using the Adobe AfterEffects program to create an animation. I have always loved this movie, for its aesthetic and its theme, and so I felt that this would be a fitting project to do to experiment.
I wanted to create the feel of flipping through an old Life Magazine, so I scanned thousands of images from old environmental and lifestyle magazines-- including Life-- both in my family’s collection and from local thrift stores.
I then sorted the images based on the main characters in the film, played by Ben Stiller, Kristen Wiig, Sean Penn, Adam Scott, Kathryn Hahn, Patton Oswalt, and Shirley MacLaine.
These images play in rapid succession to the beat of the song “Grown Ocean” by the Fleet Foxes and allude to the narrative of the film.
